The interim government of Bangladesh has decided to include 1,089 independent Ebtedayee madrasas under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme, subject to specific conditions. The file regarding this decision has already been signed by the Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, according to the Technical and Madrasa Education Division officials.
🗓️ Notification Expected Next Week
Although the MPO inclusion decision has been approved, the official gazette notification could not be issued this week because the Education Adviser is currently abroad.
According to ministry officials, the official MPO gazette is expected to be published early next week once the Education Adviser returns on November 7.
🏛️ Ministry Confirmation
On Monday (November 3), senior officials from the Technical and Madrasa Education Division confirmed the news to Jago News.
SM Masudul Haque, Joint Secretary (Madrasa Division) at the Ministry of Education, said:
“We’ve learned that the MPO inclusion file for independent Ebtedayee madrasas has been signed. The file will move from the Chief Adviser’s Office to the Education Adviser’s Office, and then to our division. Once we receive it, we’ll issue the official notification as soon as possible.”
📚 Background of the MPO Decision
Earlier on January 28, the interim government announced that independent Ebtedayee madrasas across the country would be brought under MPO coverage.
Following the announcement, the Technical and Madrasa Education Division released the MPO policy guidelines to outline the process.
However, due to administrative delays, the implementation took longer than expected — prompting Ebtedayee teachers to hold a 22-day continuous sit-in protest in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.
📌 What is MPO?
The Monthly Pay Order (MPO) is a government financial assistance scheme that provides monthly salaries to teachers and staff of non-government educational institutions approved under specific eligibility criteria.
By being MPO-listed, these Ebtedayee madrasa teachers will:
-
Receive regular monthly salaries directly from the government.
 -
Gain official recognition under the national education framework.
 -
Be eligible for future increments, benefits, and pension facilities.
